About this tool
Calculate a cryptographic digest of text using the browser’s Web Crypto API. The exact UTF-8 input is hashed, including trailing spaces and line breaks. SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 are available.

Can the hash be decoded?
Hashes are one-way digests, not reversible encodings. Short or predictable input can still be guessed and checked against its hash.
Should I use this to store passwords?
No. Password storage requires a purpose-built password hashing design with salts and a suitable work factor. This tool computes ordinary text digests.
