A LITTLE KNOW-HOW

About this tool

Translate a Unix timestamp from an API or log into a readable UTC date. Convert in the other direction with an ISO date that includes its timezone. Bare YYYY-MM-DD values mean midnight UTC, avoiding hidden local-time assumptions.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Select timestamp-to-date or ISO-date-to-timestamp.

  2. 2

Enter the value and choose seconds or milliseconds for timestamp input.

  3. 3

Convert and read the UTC date and both numeric units.

Questions, answered

Why are some timestamps 10 digits and others 13?

Many contemporary Unix timestamps use about 10 digits for seconds or 13 for milliseconds. Choose the unit explicitly; the tool does not guess it from length.

What date precision is supported?

JavaScript dates have millisecond precision. Seconds may include up to three fractional digits; millisecond inputs must be integers. Leap-second notation is not supported.
